This 6-day / 50HR Immersion & Teacher Training on the magical island of Bali will cultivate your knowledge and understanding of children’s yoga, social-emotional learning and creating resilient youth.

We include age-appropriate yoga and mindfulness for children and teens to support you on your journey with yoga on the yoga mat or classroom environment.

We explore traditional yoga ethics and philosophy, basic anatomy and physiology, mindfulness and meditation for children, classroom management, childhood development, group and partner poses as well as an opportunity to teach a hands on children yoga class. As you delve deeper into yourself as a yoga and mindfulness teacher for kids and teens, your own yoga practice and inner child exploration will continue to deepen.

During this training we will also have a couple of Speciality Teachers joining the team and sharing their knowledge about; Music Therapy and Self Love to improve mental health.

On the last day of the training, you will visit MTC and Sunrise School, where you will get to use your new set of skills for a hands-on experience teaching yoga and mindfulness to children.

By undertaking this 50HR Immersion & Teacher Training into Yoga and Mindfulness for Children and Teens yoga teacher training you will have knowledge of the following areas:

Strategies for Teaching Yoga & Mindfulness to Children: 

Breathing: Breathing practices (energizing and calming breaths )

Postures: Chair Based and Mat based yoga movements

Focus activities: Single pointed focus to build focus and attention

Resting activities: Practices to calm the nervous system

Flow Yoga: Sun Salutation

Pattanjalis 8 Limbs of Yoga: Discussion points and practices to increase mindfulness - Group work: Partner poses, Mandala, and games - Basic anatomy and physiology of the skeletal system, nervous system, endocrine system, respiratory system, and digestive system.

About Jeanne

Created from my own childhood trauma to give children the tools I never had growing up… My story begins at Uzenmyethu child care facility, GuGulethu Township, Cape Town, South Africa. All over the world, there is an accelerated growing need for children to learn life skills that could extend beyond the school walls and promote health and wellness in other areas of their life.

Over the past 10 years, I have been working with children with all types of backgrounds, sharing the gift of yoga. Noticing this growing need for change,  I wanted to create a training not just for Yoga Teachers, but for Parents, Teachers, Educators and Caregivers, anyone who wants to empower young minds to be in touch with their inner being; anyone who wants to empower young minds to be the best they can be. Anyone who wants to teach children to love who they are, Body, Mind & Soul. Anyone who wants to invest in themselves in a way that would benefit children for years to come.

PRIMITIVE REFLEXES

Stresses in the brain and the neural pathways can result in learning delays, anxiety, social challenges and poor concentration.  Combining age-appropriate kids yoga and retained primitive reflexes integration we can help support the brain equilibrium.  This modality is ideal for children with dyslexia, sensory processing issues, ADHD, sensory and motor development issues and behavioural issues. Simple exercises can be used to solve these sometimes problematic reflexes through integrating reflexes and brain integration. Specific movements can help improve learning disabilities, behavioural, writing and mathematical skills, and memory.

Practising age-appropriate yoga and mindfulness through the brain's senses gives us opportunities to look at the brain holistically and target the key areas of focus for higher brain functioning.  These reflexes are integrated into our nervous system in a specific sequence. If they are retained out of sequence, higher brain functioning is limited.

Some of the displayed symptoms of retained primitive reflexes:

  • Hemispheric Imbalance
  • Learning Delays
  • Sensory Disorders
  • ADHD
  • Social disorders
  • Dyslexia
  • Immune problems

There are two different aspects through movement:

Passive Stretching

Passive stretching through yoga poses provides repetitive patterns and body awareness needed to stimulate the brainstem to create a feeling of agency, improve muscle tone, integrate the primitive reflexes and promote efficient sensory processing.

Active Stretching

Active stretching further develops the neural networks of the cerebellum.  This type of stretching strengthens the connections between the brain and body to improve posture, concentration, impulse control, comprehension, speech and language.

The training is taking place at Serenity Eco Guesthouse ll at Satya Shala (www.serenitybali.com). Serenity is located in the heart of Canggu, set in the harmonious surroundings of Canggu and only a five-minute stroll away from the beach, Serenity Eco Guesthouse offers a tranquil retreat for everyone.

Serenity is centrally located, less than 2 km from Echo Beach and 1.5 km from the famous Batu Bolong area in Canggu, and just 45 minutes from the Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Are there any course requirements or prerequisites?

There are no requirements to take this online course. Anybody can teach kids yoga!

Who this course is for:

A yoga instructor who wishes to enhance upskill their knowledge to offer kids yoga classes at yoga studios. 

A teacher who would love to include yoga and mindfulness activities into your daily classroom routine. 

You may be a parent who wishes to learn how to teach yoga and mindfulness to your children to include in the home environment. 

Or somebody with NO prior yoga or teaching experience and would love to teach yoga and mindfulness to kids in kindergartens in your community. 

How does the online course works?

This course is a flexible online course. It is a self-paced or optional Instructor lead.

Self- Paced: There are modules for you to work through at your own pace, along with a downloadable manual, reflection exercises, voice recorded slides, and videos. You can log into the course whenever you have time to work on it! Upon completing all modules, you will have reflection assignments to hand in, and your final homework is to create a 35-minute kids yoga designed for each specific age groups learned with a hand in a step by step lesson plan for each. All work will be handed back to you with feedback and suggestions within 14 days. After you complete all modules, you'll receive your PDF version of your 50hr noncontact ( including assignments and self-study)  yoga alliance certified certificate.

Optional Instructor Lead - Each week for eight weeks, you will be able to participate in a live question and answer community discussion via the Facebook community group. 

Live check-ins will be held every Friday at 6:00 pm ( Central Indonesian Time )

Beginning on 19th June - 07th July. All check-ins are recorded for you to listen to in your own time.

How long do I have to complete the course?

The course is self-paced, you can take as long as you need! I recommend trying to finish within six months to 1 year, so the information stays fresh in your mind.

"...what an experience"

This was my first time taking any sort of yoga training for children and I'm so inspired. 

When I first signed myself up my intentions were to find more tools to work with children in a classroom setting. I have been working in International High Schools as a theatre teacher for many years, so I was hoping to discover more ideas to use with my students to encourage mindfulness, address performance anxiety, confidence and self-belief. 

These tools however not only provided me with a range of useful tools to weave into my work with older children but also an amazing range of ideas to use in my daily life with my own toddler. I hadn't expected such a comprehensive course introducing me to brain, physical and sensory development. 

I have taken several teacher trainings over the years but I have never walked away with such life-affirming and useful techniques - my heart is full. 

I am very grateful for totally recommend this course to anyone and everyone wanting to make a difference in the lives of children. Particularly those who want to more deeply understand their own child's development and parenting journey.
